Data Deletion Instructions

Last updated: May 21, 2026

This page explains how to request deletion of personal data held by Kavanah Media, including data we received from Meta Platforms (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) on behalf of one of our Clients.

About our role

Kavanah Media operates a hosted messaging platform on behalf of ministry and nonprofit Clients. When you send a message to one of those Clients through their Facebook Page, Instagram Business account, or WhatsApp Business number, we receive and store that message in the Client’s hosted instance of our platform.

The Client is the data controller for those messages. We act as their data processor. Deletion requests are most efficiently handled by the Client directly, but you may also request deletion through us using the options below.

How to request deletion

Option 1 — Through the organization you messaged

Contact the organization (Facebook Page, Instagram account, or WhatsApp Business number) you exchanged messages with and request deletion. They can delete the conversation directly from their platform.

Option 2 — By email to Kavanah Media

Send an email to contact@kavanahmedia.com with the subject line “Data Deletion Request” and include:

We will route your request to the relevant Client and confirm completion by email.

Option 3 — By revoking permission on Facebook or Instagram

If you previously granted permission to a Kavanah Media-operated application on Facebook or Instagram, you can revoke it from your account settings:

Revoking permission triggers an automatic data deletion request from Meta to Kavanah Media, which we process on the timeline below.

What we delete

When a deletion request is processed, we permanently remove:

What may persist briefly

Some information may persist in encrypted backups for up to 30 days (daily backups) or up to 1 year (monthly backups). Backups are not actively used and are deleted on their normal rotation schedule. Aggregated, anonymized analytics that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely.

We may also retain certain information where required by law, necessary to resolve disputes, or to enforce our agreements.

Timeframe

Confirmation code

When Meta sends us an automated data deletion request triggered by your revocation of permissions, Meta provides a unique confirmation code. You may use that code to check the status of your request at any time by emailing contact@kavanahmedia.com with the code in the subject line.
